    Laura from ON Asked

Hi, my husband, kids (S: 7, D: 5) are staying at the P.O. Riverside in Feb '10 for our first visit. I've looked at the maps but want some idea of the scale of the distance. Can we walk to Epcot and get the monorail there? Or to the Wilderness? Thx.

Hi, Laura!   The only location within walking distance for you from Port Orleans Riverside will be its sister resort, Port Orleans French Quarter.  This is about a 15 minute walk along a lovely path!

Other than that, you will have to rely on bus transportation to theme parks and water parks.  There also a boat that can take you to Downtown Disney.   From Downtown Disney and the theme parks, you can transfer to other resorts.   The monorail is accessible from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and the Transportation and Ticket Center.

I know it all sounds confusing, but remember that WDW is about 43 square miles with 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, a sports complex, over 20 resort hotels and so much more!   If you want to plan out how to get somewhere, try visiting www.ourlaughingplace.com.   At the bottom of the page, you will find the Transportation Wizard.  By selecting Point A and Point B, the Wizard will give you transportation options and approximate travel times.

Enjoy your first trip to Disney!
