my husband and I are both >75 yrs old and are wondering if the monorail is the closest method of transportation to the park entrance.

    Hi Marylou!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I'm happy to help!

One of my favorite groups of guests to see enjoying Walt Disney World Resort is the "young at heart" folks like yourself. I can see the same wonder and amazement in the eyes of guests from 7 to 77! You're never to old (or young!) for the magic of a Disney vacation.

Walt Disney World Resort does an amazing job when it comes to transportation, shuttling resort guests from park to park with buses, boats, and the monorail system. Cast members are always on hand to direct you to the easiest route to get you where you want to go.

I'm assuming you're asking about the walking distance from the Magic Kingdom monorail station to the front gate of Magic Kingdom Park. If you take the monorail to Magic Kingdom, it's a short downhill walk to the bag check area/park entrance. If you arrive via water transportation (boat/ferry from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness Resort or the Ticket and Transportation Center "TTC"), the dropoff area is just a few steps closer to the park entrance. The area where guests are dropped off via bus/motorcoach probably has the longest walking distance to the entrance.

If you feel as though you may need a bit of assistance moving around the park all day, you can always consider renting an ECV (Electric Conveyance Vehicle, otherwise known as an electric scooter) once you get to Magic Kingdom. The rental location is inside the park entrance on the right, and they offer a limited number of wheelchairs and ECVs on a first-come, first-served basis.

I hope this helps answer your question! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have a magical day! - Diane W.
