Mom And Daughter Resort Room

My husband is a disabled veteran who also has PSTD. We're staying at the Caribbean, but after researching I'm concerned about the amount of walking to get to transportation/lobby and fireworks being close. Would another resort be a better choice?

Hi Diana! I can understand why you are reconsidering your Disney resort choice for your upcoming vacation.

Most of the Disney Moderate Resorts such as the Caribbean are spread out with an internal bus system. At most resorts these buses will take you to the resort lobby area but it does make it a two step process when trying to get to the parks. When staying at a Deluxe Resort you will not have the double bus situation but you will be closer to the parks that might have the night time fireworks shows.

The best Deluxe option would be the Animal Kingdom Lodge as it is located far enough away from the parks that fireworks are not heard as clearly in a closed resort room. If that is out of the budget then I suggest possibly Old Key West. We have stayed there many times and although you can see the Hollywood Studios and Epcot fireworks they were not as loud as other resorts.

We stay in Fort Wilderness often and we have found that it depends on the wind direction as to how loud the fireworks will be at night. A quiet cool night with a wind blowing in from the Magic Kingdom can make them sound like they are right out in front of your spot. Escaping them completely is almost impossible so be aware of that. Also during the day sporadic fireworks can go off for the Magic Kingdom stage shows.

When making your resort reservation also request close buildings and handicap accessible rooms if necessary. Also mention this again when checking in to make sure your request was handled.
