My husband is disabled making travel somewhat difficult. We would like to bring our two children to Disney. Where are the best handicap accommodations? Do any of the resort hotels have pools that are handicap accessible?

    Hi, Diana!

I think you will be pleased to know that all resorts offer handicapped accessible rooms.  I would opt to book your resort reservation by phone at (407)W-DISNEY so you can be very sure that you are booked for a properly accessible room. Do not wait until you arrive to tell them your needs. The more that is detailed on your reservation, the smoother your vacation will be.

Once at your resort, you can travel to any of the theme parks via Disney bus or monorail, which are handicapped accessible and are able to transfer wheelchairs or ECVs easily. At the theme parks, you will want to ask the cast member at the entrance to each attraction what type of transfer is required so you can determine if your husband will have any transferring issues.

All resort pools have lifts into the water of the main pools. Many of the Deluxe Resort have "zero entry" pools which are convenient and easy for entry and exit into the pool.

At the theme parks, queues are either accessible in wheelchairs/ECVs or an accessible entrance is available.  For more information on all services, read all the Accessibility FAQs. You can also call (407)560-2547 with any specific questions regarding accessibility issues.

I hope you find that Walt Disney World will be quite accommodating to your husband's needs. Have fun planning your magical vacation!
