My husband and I decided to run our first marathon. We are debating in participating in the Disney Wine/Dine Half Marathon or Jungle 5K. Are both the same in distance? Also what hotel do you recommend we stay in to avoid transportation problems? Thanks

Hi!  Congratulations on making that decision!  My husband and I run together and it has really been a great way for us to stay connected and healthy!

The Disney Wine and Dine half marathon is my favorite race.  The half marathon distance is 13.1 miles.  That is what the Wine and Dine race will be.  That same weekend is the Jingle Jungle 5K.  A 5K distance is 3.1 miles.  Every race weekend includes a 5K run.  So, you and your wife can decide how far you want to go for your first race.

I recommend that you stay in one of the Disney host resorts for Wine and Dine weekend.  Each race weekend has a set of host resorts that provide free bus transportation to and from all of the race weekend events. (there is an expo where you pick up your packet, kids races, 5Ks, and the main race)  The buses really make it convenient for runners.  Traffic and road closures can be difficult to drive around in, so knowing that transportation is taken care of is a huge relief.  You can go to the Wine and Dine half marathon website, then click on "travel details" to get all of the information about host resorts and how to book them with the runner's discount.

Please let me know if I can help you and your wife prepare for your race and if you have any other runDisney questions!
