Hello! My husband and I will be arriving 1/7/15 for the Disney Marathon Weekend, Dopey. We were contemplating staying at a Disney Resort and wondered what your favorite resort/s were for this race? Is the monorail or bus system more reliable race morning?

    Greetings, Lorraine!

Congratulations on going Dopey in 2015 - I hope your training is off to a good start! I like to think of this race weekend as an "Ultra," Disney style.

Selecting the right accommodations for any Disney vacation is important, but for a runDisney-cation it's essential! And with so many magical places to choose from at Walt Disney World® Resort, it can be overwhelming. Luckily, I have some great suggestions and tips that were recently featured on the runDisney Blog, where I had the opportunity to highlight my personal favorite resort hotels for race weekend. Select the highlighted links below to read all about it.

Both forms of race transportation are reliable IF you resolve to head to the Start Zone early. If you decide to catch race transportation at a later time, go with a Monorail Resort. Not only will you not have to deal with the anxiety of race traffic, but with only three resorts along the Monorail,  there will be considerably less runners to transport. In addition, Monorail Transportation will begin at 3:00am on all four race mornings, where as buses are on a staggered starting schedule depending upon the race.

I hope this information is helpful as you plan and prepare for the 2015 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna®. Please send me any additional questions you may have, Lorraine! I am here to help make your race experience as magical as possible.

    Happy Training!
