    Erica from IL Asked

My hubby hates flying so we are driving from IL to WDW. I like the idea of having our own transportain around the resort but is the parking affordable. We are staying at Cabins at FW and KV. Do we pay for parking at the parks and is there all day parking?

Hi Erica! We often drive down to Walt Disney World from Indiana so I know that route well. We have a motor coach that we bring down for the fall and winter seasons and make many trips to stay in Fort Wilderness.

You certainly don't need a car during a Disney vacation but it will give you added alternatives in getting around. There are bus systems at both locations where you will be staying that are complimentary to resort guests. While you are at Fort Wilderness I suggest when you head to the Magic Kingdom to park your car at the cabin and take the direct boat from the marina to the park. It drops you off literally steps from the entrance. If you were to drive and park you would have to take a parking lot shuttle then a ferry or monorail to even reach the front entrance.

When you check in they will ask if you need a parking identification and you tell them yes. Put this piece of paper in your car front window. This is your pass to parking anywhere on property and you will not pay any fees at any parks or resorts. You can park for as long as you wish during the day of your visits. It is part of the amenities of being a Disney resort guest. If you ever choose to valet at another resort that fee is $15.  Enjoy your drive down and enjoy your vacation!
