We (hubby, me, daughters ages 9, 4, and 6 mos.) will be going to WDW for first time ever and I'm overwhelmed at all the info. out there. We have 2 days at MK and one at HS. Travel dates are 7/10-7/14/11. Can anyone offer an itinirary simple/easy to follow?

Wendy, let's do everything we can to make this as underwhelming as possible. Hold on. That doesn't sound right. Let's rephrase: let's make your planning process as easy as possible. The only thing that should overwhelm you is my mastery of the English language. Ah...better.

It looks like you'll be visiting the parks on July 11, 12 and 13, right?  My first step in planning is to check the Crowd Calendar on TouringPlans.com and check out the Extra Magic Hours schedule. Having just done so (I love tabs,) here's what we're looking at:

    July 11: Magic Kingdom
    July 12: Hollywood Studios
    July 13: Magic Kingdom

To plan out your days, start by getting a good idea of what each person in the family wants to see. A good way to do this is to have your family huddle around a computer and visit the Maps of Walt Disney World webpage. You can then select attractions to put on your personal, customized park maps. After you have a map with all of the attractions you want to hit, hop on back to TouringPlans.com for recommended touring plans on how to fit it all in.

On your last night there, July 13, Magic Kingdom has evening Extra Magic Hours, which gives you more time in the parks without the crowds.

On your first day there, July 10, since you're not planning to visit a theme park, consider hitting Downtown Disney or enjoying the amenities at your resort. You could do likewise on your last day there, or you could try to take in a character meal before heading out. Places like Chef Mickey's, Ohana and 1900 Park Fare are good options because no park admission is required and they are easy to get to by utilizing transportation to Magic Kingdom.
