I was hoping to save $ and stay at one of the "value resorts." How long do you typically wait to catch a bus to the Parks? Are we better off renting a vehicle? or would you spend the extra money and stay at a resort connected to the monorail?

    Hi Rachel!

Budget questions are always hard to give opinions to as guiding guests to where they should spend money is a very personal decision. But let me give you some things to consider.

Value resorts are those that have smaller rooms with double beds and further away from the parks on property. My favorite is the Pop Century Resort. At the Value resorts your wait time for a bus is equal to any other which is about 15-20 minutes. You will have to add time as your distance to parks is greater so it takes a little longer.

A deluxe resort will offer you location as well as larger rooms and queen beds. If you have young children you can easily go back and forth to your room from the parks when you need which is a huge benefit. But that benefit costs you greatly in room pricing and if you don't spend much time in the room you have to ask if that benefit is worth the cost to you.

You could also consider a moderate resort which is in between and they offer you the queen beds and better locations then the Values. My favorite in this category is the Port Orleans Resort. Choosing a moderate saves you some money but cuts back on transportation time.

My family has always used the Disney transportation to get to the parks. To us it is the most convenient and easy and stress free. Waiting a little time for a bus is about equal to the time it would take you to get back into a parking lot and finding your car. It is also an extra expense to avoid and you could use that money to upgrade your resort instead.

Before making your final decision consider room size and type. Spending more money gives you larger rooms and closer locations but perhaps a moderate resort will best fit your needs on this vacation.
