Hoping for some advice for staying off-site:( Will be renting a car to get around. Any parking savings for multiple park days? There are 5 of us(me,DH,&3DD 8,6,2) staying last week in Jan 2011. Any other tips/advice would be very helpful. Thank You!

    Hi Victoria,

Your trip is just around the corner & I'm so excited for you! Staying off property isn't the end of the world so don't worry - you'll have an awesome trip! If you're staying at a nearby resort, check to see if they have a shuttle service to WDW - many do.  The downside is you're at their mercy. With 3 young DDs, it will be nice to get in your car & head back when you're ready.

If you're driving to the parks, you'll have to pay parking each day & there are no multiple day parking discounts. The good news is you only have to pay parking 1x per day.  You can also leave a park & return to the same park or different park each day without paying again - just show your receipt when re-entering. Parking is free for WDW annual passholders.

Check the WDW website for hours of operation & Extra Magic Hours.  Unless you have something special planned on a certain day for a certain park (i.e., character dining), avoid the parks that have morning EMH. Resort guests like to take advantage of the EMHs so those parks tend to be more crowded.

Rental cars are everywhere in Orlando. Do something to help you easily locate your rental car - tie a ribbon on the antenna or put something easily recognized in the window. The parking lots are big & at the end of the day, the last thing you'll want to do is roam the parking lot looking for a car you're not use to spotting. Make sure you write down the section & isle number where you park or take a picture with your phone to help you remember.

Pack a bag to leave in your car with extra clothes or emergency things you may need during the day. Keep some snacks in a cooler for the ride back at the end of the day - traffic will be heavy getting out of the parks if you leave after the fireworks or closing.

I honestly like having a car to travel around in when I'm at Disney so that I can go where I want - when I want.  The magic awaits you - enjoy!
