Hi’Ya Panel! My dad is a USMC Veteran & is eligible for the Military Discounts; however, he is not physically able to make the trip himself. He wants to allow our family to use the discounts offered through Disney as a gift to us-is that possible?

    Hi Amy!

Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We absolutely love to help our long time friends plan their best Disney Parks vacations ever! First let me say a big THANK YOU to your whole family for your dads service. I'm an Air Force wife and even though we don't have that many years under our belts (or stripes on a sleeve) every military family member makes a sacrifice, too.

I am over the moon thankful for the wonderful Military Promotional tickets and special Resort room rates that Disney offers as a 'Thank You' to U.S. Military families. The offer details do stipulate that either the Service Member or their Mil ID holding spouse may purchase up to six of these tickets per calendar year per family. This can be done on base, at Shades of Green, or once you get to the gate. If purchased on base, you'll be given paper tickets that have an ID on the back that can be used to secure FastPass+ reservations in advance, however they will need to be validated before their first use at Walt Disney World Resort, and either your father or his dependent ID holding spouse will need to be with your family while validating the tickets.

I am told that Shades of Green, the independently-owned and operated Military-specific resort hotel that is located minutes away from Magic Kingdom Park, can mail out already validated tickets. Definitely call or email with them to ensure that your father won't need to be with your family in order to pass these tickets on before you purchase anything. And bonus, these tickets will be sales-tax free.

I hope your family is able to get this worked out, and thank you ALL again, Amy!
