Hi We are planing in going to wdw on May 24-30 this year, and just realized is memorial day weekend, Does it get really crowd? Do you recommend changing the dates to May 30- Jun 5 instead, please let me know, I'm freaking out. Thank you :)

    Hi Maria,

Oh no please don't worry! Hopefully I can offer some information to help you feel better and help you make your decision about timing your trip.

When I am looking for crowd predictions, I like to visit touringplans.com. Memorial Day will likely see a bit of a bump up in crowds; however, it shouldn't be as crowded for as long a time as for instance Spring Break. For Memorial Day most children only have one day off from school and for many families a three-day weekend isn't long enough to make a trip to Walt Disney World. I would expect crowds over the weekend and on the holiday itself (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) to be fairly high. Your second option for dates - May 30 to June 5 - will much likely be much less crowded than Memorial Day weekend. If your only criteria for shifting the vacation is crowd levels, I would recommend moving it to May 30 to June 5.

If you need to stick with your original plan of going over Memorial Day, that's okay! My family is well-known for going to Walt Disney World at some of the busiest times of year. We have a few tips that make these times more enjoyable for us. First, we always arrive at a theme park 30 minutes before opening. It is amazing, even at very crowded times of year, how much less crowded the parks are for the first couple of hours of the morning. We also make sure that we make reservations for any dining that we want to do, especially in the theme parks. That way we're not disappointed if a table is not available at a restaurant we want to eat at on the day we are there. Finally, we really consider hanging out at our resort an integral part of our vacation. Once early to mid afternoon rolls around, we are often done in the theme parks and are happy to return to our resort for a splash in the pool.

I wish you luck in making your decision, Maria, and please do come back with further questions if you have any!
