Hi We (mom, dad and 5 yr daughter) are traveling to WDW Aug 19-29 2010 staying at pop century. We would like an itinerary that takes in everything but also allows us some downtime at the resort. Any suggestions on how we should approach this? Thanks

    Hi Nancy!

WOW!  Your vacation is getting close!  How exciting!  The biggest thing for us IS planning downtime.  WIth 3 little ones we have to make sure we balance all the magic with some mellow time!  The best way to do this?  We always, ALWAYS head back to the resort midday to relax and perhaps even NAP (gasp!!).  I know...I know...nap...but really it helps put everyone in a more relaxed mood.  Some days we even hit the resort pool and head back to the parks for dinner and some late night park activities.

For our trip planning, I block our days into 3 chunks.  Morning, afternoon, and evening.  In the morning we head to a park after breakfast and stay there until just after lunch when we usually head back for a break.  Then, following the afternoon break we head back to a different park for our evening activities.  I always try to plan a late morning wake up call after a late night activity, and I ALWAYS devote one morning to shopping/eating at Downtown Disney (usually about midway through our vacation so we can take advantage of the free resort package delivery).

Hope this helps!  Have a MAGICAL vacation!
