Hi-trying to decide between a week at Ft. Wilderness vs. Port Orleans Riverside. 3 kiddos, ages: 10, 8, & 6. Any opinion? Kids are definitely more portable now, in terms of getting to the parks. Any advice greatly appreciated!

    Hi Jennifer!

Picking your resort takes time as Disney offers so many opportunities for families during their stays.  With three children I strongly suggest you consider the beautiful newly renovated Fort Wilderness Cabins. You will certainly get more room in a cabin over one resort room at Port Orleans. Although I do love the Port Orleans resort it will be a bit tight sharing it with three kids.

The cabins will offer one bedroom separate from the rest of the area. It will have a queen bed with storage room underneath for those bulky suitcases and also a bunk bed. Kids do love the bunks! There is also a small closet and a small chest of drawers as well as a night stand and tv. Outside the bedroom is the large bath with plenty of storage for everyone's personal items. There is only one sink but there is room to move around so it isn't bad.

The living/dining/kitchen area is the focal point of the cabins. Here you will find a fully equipped kitchen if you choose to make a few simple meals during your stay. All you need to buy is the food and you can even order from a grocery delivery service for this. There is a queen sofa sleeper, large dining table for 6, big screen tv and DVD player and drawers and more storage.

Outside on the deck is a great picnic table and below that is the grill. So as you can see you will have a fully equipped vacation cabin to enjoy.

Although you might find that your cabin is further from a pool then a resort room the Fort Wilderness internal transportation is quite adequate in getting you from place to place. Your kids will also love the outdoor area around the cabin to collect pine cones or just watch the local wildlife. Each loop becomes a family where kids are always finding new friends too.

My vote definitely goes to the cabins for a new and fun Disney resort experience!
