Hi!! Our backgrounds are very similar!! I am DVC and our trip 5-23/5-29 wil be at Old Key West. Our kids are 9(Boy and Girl) What are some ways to eat well without dining plan cheeper? Going to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. We want one great big meal together

Hi Greg! You do sound a lot like me -- I love dining at the table-service restaurants at Disney, but I'm always looking for ways to save money at the same time! If you don't have the Dining Plan, you can still cut your costs and enjoy the finer restaurants at Disney.

If you have an Annual Pass, consider buying a Tables in Wonderland membership, which gives you a twenty percent discount on food and drinks at many Disney restaurants. If you eat at a lot of table-service restaurants, the Tables in Wonderland card will very quickly pay for itself!

Another way to cut your dining costs is to eat your big table-service meal at lunch rather than dinner. In Epcot, Le Cellier is one of our favorite restaurants. My kids love the pretzel bread, and I love that the cheese soup and mushroom filet cost half as much at lunch as they do at dinner!

At Via Napoli  your family can share a gourmet pizza and dine in a beautiful setting at a surprisingly low price. While the cost of the pizzas may seem high compared to your hometown pizzeria, we've found that a meal at Via Napoli is usually our least expensive table-service meal at Disney. The half-meter pizza is more than enough for our family of four, which allows us to have a relaxing sit-down meal for roughly $10 per person, before tax and tip.

If your kids want to have a character meal at the Magic Kingdom, choose breakfast instead of lunch or dinner, and you'll pay less. Dinner at Crystal Palace costs almost $15 more for adults than breakfast, while dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table runs $10 more per adult than breakfast.

For a casual and economical option in the Magic Kingdom, consider the Plaza Restaurant
, which offers tasty sandwiches and ice cream specialties at prices only marginally more than the counter-service restaurants.
