    Douglas from ON Asked

Hi, My wife and I are taking our daughters to WDW on May 6 and I am looking for some advise with respect to guide books. I have seen two that look interesting, The Unofficial Guide to WDW and The Hidden Magic. Which one would you recommend?

    Hello, Douglas,

It can certainly be overwhelming when trying to decide which guide book to buy for Walt Disney World, so I buy them all!  But I realize that not everyone may as obsessed as I am.

The two books you have mentioned are actually quite different.  The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World is a comprehensive guide that contains all the information and then some that you need to know about visiting WDW.  In fact, it may sometimes be a bit overwhelming.  I should share with you that this book also has a companion website www.touringplans.com, which I use all the time for information about touring plans, wait times, and so forth.  It does have a small fee, but one I think worthwhile.  In fact, it even has an app for smart phones called Lines.

The Hidden Magic is a lovely complement to the latter book since it tells delightfully, wonderful secrets about the Walt Disney World resort area.  Think of it as the stories about WDW while the Unofficial Guide is the statistics about WDW.  I'll use the Unofficial Guide to know what restaurants are available at Epcot, but I'll read The Hidden Magic to learn about secret of the painting of the World War II B-17 Bomber at the American Adventure.  I truly think you can't go wrong having both books in your personal library.

I'm happy to talk about more Disney books if you have any more questions!
