Hi My son is a HUGE fan of Cars-Land. I'm wondering if we can do something special there to celebrate his 22nd birthday on 2/27. He is a special needs (autistic) and type 1 diabetes. Your suggestion is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Hello Keiko!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I hope you are having a magical week!

Cars Land is my family’s favorite place to be in Disneyland Resort. My youngest is also autistic and my first piece of advice is to go straight to City Hall or Guest Relations when arriving at the parks. Ask them about the Disability Access Service Card. The cast members are trained to give great information and can provide information and ideas on what accommodations you may need. Different attractions have different queues so while one may be fine for you to wait in, another might not work out as well.

The Disability Access Service will allow you to get a return time for an attraction so you can rest/sit/etc until the time stated. You then go to the FASTPASS entrance and show them your ticket that has the return time programmed on it. You don’t have to use it for all rides, just those that might be difficult with standing for long periods of time.

A fun thing we do to make Cars Land even more special, is to have a bite to eat at Flo’s V8 Cafe. There are seats outside towards the back of the restaurant that have a great view of the cars zipping around in Radiator Springs Racers. My boys love watching the cars and it’s a great quiet area to relax a bit in the midst of the fun.

You can also pick a complimentary birthday button up at Guest Relations while you are there. I love how some Cast Members go out of their way to wish people a Happy Birthday or whatever they are celebrating when they see these buttons!

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions as you are planning your visit.

    See you real soon!
