Hi, My family is visiting WDW May 21-27 for the first time. I want to do online check in but wasn't sure if we should do regular check in since it's our first time? Is there a difference? Thanks,

    Hi Kim,

A first trip to Disney World is always super exciting!  I am a big fan of Disney's Online Check-in Service - its so easy and makes the check in process super fast once you arrive.

Beginning 10 days prior to your arrival, you can go online and confirm your information. On the Disney World Resort homepage, you'll see "My Disney Vacation" next to the small orange suitcase icon near the top left side. Click "Online Check In". It only takes a few minutes to complete the information.

When you arrive at your resort, there will be a separate line for Guests who did their check-in online (look for the signs). The person whose name is on the reservation will have to present his or her photo ID. They will give your welcome package with your Key to the World Cards and resort information and you're good to go. It’s that simple.

Even when you use Online Check-In, you still interact with a Cast Member when you arrive at your resort.  That Cast Member is able to assist you in any way that a Cast Member in the regular check-in line can so there aren't any advantages to waiting until you arrive to check-in.

In the days before online check-in, there were times we waited in line for awhile at some of the resorts (not often but once we waited over an hour). This can be especially true if you arrive with lots of other Guests on Magical Express or a tour group.

I think you'll find Disney's Online Check-In Service very convenient and much appreciated if you've had a long day of traveling because it gets you to your room faster and lets the magic begin.

Wishing you many magical memories during your first trip :-) Allison
