    Mireille from NB Asked

Hi!My daughter is lactose intolerant.I understand that restaurants are very accommodating, but I'm wondering how the snack carts are?Do they have lactose free ice cream bars available?Or lactose free ice cream anywhere in the parks?Thank you!

Hello Mireille! You are absolutely right, restaurants all around Walt Disney World will do anything they can to accommodate special diets and food allergies. The food carts are no different. I know that I have started seeing more fruit based ice cream bars around the parks. Just last weekend I saw a frozen strawberry fruit bar and a mango fruit bar. You should still take caution and look at the packaging before you purchase anything, because even though the mango fruit bar is fruit, it had a cream base containing egg and milk, and would not be a good option for lactose intolerance.

I know that Walt Disney World offers two popular brands of dairy-free ice-cream, Tofutti and Rice Dream.

The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the Magic Kingdom offers these brands. They have a book with ingredients that you can look over and the Cast Members are very knowledgable and accommodating. They will also personally scoop the ice cream to avoid cross-contamination.

In Hollywood Studios, 50's Prime Time Cafe has some really great soy milk or Tofutti milkshakes.

Don't be afraid to ask around and let the Cast Members know of the food allergies. They will do anything they can to help.

If you need anything else, please stop by again. Have a magical vacation!
