Hi,I'm planning a trip to WDW (3 kids 8,7 & 6). In one post, you said you visit a park, then swim & make dinner plans. But I have read often that I need to make dinner reservations months in advance or risk having to wait til 9:00 to eat. What shou

    Hi CJJ,

I'm not sure which previous post of mine you were reading. Perhaps my writing was unclear, and I apologize if I misspoke, but I'm not an advocate of waiting until the last minute for dinner plans. It is sometimes possible to walk-up to some restaurants. However, if you have young children with early bedtimes or want to have specific dining experiences such as character meals, you should absolutely make dining reservations as far in advance as possible.

I believe what I was trying to communicate is that my family's standard plan of attack is to hit the parks early in the morning. Then in the early afternoon we usually head back to the hotel to rest, nap, swim, etc. In the late afternoon or early evening, we head out again to eat and maybe do just a few more rides. When we go out to eat, the vast majority of the time we have made plans about where to go in advance and have reservations. This has been a very successful strategy for us. We maximize our ride time in the parks when the crowds are low, plus we also get a relaxation component to our vacation.

    Good luck with your planning.
