Hi I'm cruising on the Dream In February 2011. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to the port from Orlando..we are arriving 2 days before the cruise...any suggestions? Do the DCL buses pick up from the Swan and Dolphin Resorts?

    Hi Laura,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  The DCL motorcoach transfer service is not available from the Swan and Dolphin resorts.  Not to worry though, you have a few options - if you really want to use the the DCL transfer service, you would need to transfer over to one of the Walt Disney World resorts the morning your voyage departs.  The closest ones would be the Boardwalk or Yacht Club and you would be responsible for getting yourself and your luggage there (they are both within walking distance, but a taxi may be an easier option if you have a lot of luggage).

Another option would be to rent a car - Alamo and National have facilities at the Dolphin Resort, so you could rent the car there, drive to port - park at the terminal during your voyage (approx $15 per day), and then return the car back at the Dolphin or at Orlando International Airport.

There are a few car rental companies that have facilities at Port Canaveral - this would allow you to drop your car off prior to your cruise (and avoid parking fees), and take their shuttle to the terminal.  After your voyage you could either rent another car, or take DCL transfers to Orlando International Airport or one of the Walt Disney World Resorts.  To do this you would need to make your way over to the Downtown Disney Resort Area to pick up a car, Avis is located at the Hilton, and Budget is at the Doubletree - both have locations near Port Canaveral.

The easiest solution would probably be to hire a town car company to do the driving.  There are several that service Port Canaveral from Walt Disney World.  If you visit a fan site such as DISBoards, you'll find lots of suggestions and review on specific companies.  What I like about this option is that you can dictate your time of departure, and not have to worry about getting lost!

Good luck with your decision - I hope this helps!
