    Sam from South Yorkshire Asked

Hi I have a disability that restricts my mobility. Before I book a holiday to Florida (I’m in the uk) I need to be certain I can manage the parks. How would I facilitate this?

    chEARs Sam!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. My husband is Scottish (born and raised in Edinburgh), so I love seeing a fellow Brit on the question list. Combined with being the resident doctor on the Panel, I just had to grab your question! Rest assured, Disney wants to provide the most magical of experiences for all of its Guests, including those who need mobility assistance.

If you have a wheelchair, walker, cane, or scooter, you are more than welcome to bring it to the Park as it is a mobility aid. I would consider an ECV or wheelchair rental when you arrive to help mitigate fatigue. Wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented daily at each of the Parks, or you can get one from one of Disney’s Featured Providers. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Buena Vista Scooter Rentals.

If you are going to have a rental car, take advantage of the Disability Parking Lots. You must have a valid disability parking permit though, and standard rates apply. If you are sans car, make sure to use Disney’s complimentary transportation. There are multiple forms of it, including bus, monorail, water taxi, and the brand-new Disney Skyliner. All of these options can accommodate mobility aids.

I would highly suggest you take advantage of FastPass+! This will allow you to skip the standby line at the attractions, and therefore give you a bit of rest. Also, talk with the Cast Members at the front of attractions about transferring to a wheelchair during the queue. Anything that will give you a bit of rest will help your days go smoother.

Sam, if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to come back. I hope this trip is just what the doctor ordered!
