Hi For the first time me and my son are travelling alone to WDW without the rest of the family. So I try to make it special for my boy, so he wouldn‘t be too sad without his siblings. Do you have any recomends for us. Its our sixth time there . Thank you.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Stefanie! I think mom and son trips are a great bonding experience. In fact, my youngest Mouseketeer and I go on an annual trip together every February, and we leave dad home with his two teenage brothers. I'd be happy to give you a few ideas!

The first thing I've learned is to not over-schedule our trip with too many activities. While all of the fun at the Parks will be an essential part of your vacation, your laughter and memories will be even more important. My little guy loves spending time at our Walt Disney World Resort hotel (especially at the swimming pools) almost as much as he enjoys the Parks, so make sure to allow some downtime so the two of you can appreciate being together. Some of my most treasured times are of us relaxing and enjoying a snack; eating Dole Whips will put a smile on anyone's face! Another recommended activity is to experience the brand new Disney Skyliner, which is sure to add some pixie dust to his day. Mealtimes are also great times to unwind. I let my son help pick our dining reservations, and some of his favorites include Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria, Chef Mickey's, and California Grill (where he can watch the Happily Ever After fireworks while eating dinner).

Since you've visited the Parks several times, I'm sure your son has a list of "Must Do" attractions. Let him help you select the FastPass+ experiences.  If he's a Star Wars fan, then piloting the Millennium Falcon together into hyperspace is an adventure you don't want to miss!  I also like to surprise my tiny Prince Charming with one unique experience on each trip. We've done Fireworks Dessert Parties, runDisney events, the Caring for Giants and Behind the Seeds Tours, and he's even gotten a haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop. Try to pick something special that is geared towards his interests.

Lastly, preserving those memories and reminiscing about your trip is essential, too. I always purchase Memory Maker in advance, and we make sure to stop and take lots of pictures together, especially with his favorite adorable blue alien, Stitch. When we get home, I like to make him a little photo book as a memento of our time together.

I hope you and your son have a magical vacation, Stefanie! Please write back if there's anything else we can do!

Meet the Panelist: Eean, Pennsylvania

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
