Hi! BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION:This will be a first for all my guys (husband and LO's soon to be 3 & 7m/o). We plan on visiting the DL park as well. Any tips for bringing LO's for their 1st time, to avoid midday melt downs!?

Hi there, Marlena! First visits and a birthday celebration all during the same trip? How wonderful!

Traveling with little ones can be truly magical and a bit of planning goes a long way to make things go smoothly. When traveling with a pre-schooler, I suggest measuring their height before you get to the parks. This should give you a clear idea of which attractions your son will be able to ride. It can also help you set expectations so there aren't any disappointments when you get to the parks. I would also prioritize which attractions and experiences are must dos and plan to do those things first in the morning when the wait times are generally lowest. Then, plan to take breaks in the afternoons for naps, swimming, or simply some quiet time. Afternoon breaks are crucial to keeping my little one from melting down in the parks!

Another thing to plan for is setting expectations about souvenir or toy purchases. They will certainly notice all the exciting toys and trinkets for sale nearly around every corner. If you can discuss with your child ahead of time what souvenir(s) they will be able to have, it should help curb their desire to have every toy they see.

Finally, plan to bring or purchase plenty of snacks and always have a water bottle on hand. It seems like my daughter is hungry all the time when we visit the parks so I like being able to satisfy her hunger at a moment's notice by having healthy snacks in my backpack.

Your whole family is sure to make some incredible memories during your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Happy planning!
