Hi! Are Extra magical hours days very busy? Is it worth planning going in parks when there's Extra magical hours? Thank you!

    Hi, Nathalie!

There are generally two different opinions on the matter of Extra Magic Hours, so I'll try to cover all of them for you, then give you my own advice, too. :-)

Some folks say that certain parks become very crowded on days when there are Extra Magic Hours in the morning. These folks agree that other parks which open within an hour of the EMH elsewhere can sometimes feel empty, because everyone else decided to head to that other park instead.

Others, however, feel that EMH offer Guests staying at WDW Resorts the opportunity to enjoy the parks when other park-goers simply can't get in yet (a.m. EMH) or when they've had to go home already (p.m. EMH).

I fall somewhere in the middle. IF you can get to a park just prior to an a.m. EMH, then I believe it's worth it to go that park that day. Instead of entering the park and hitting the attractions in the order in which you walk past them, however, head to the opposite end of the park. Most park-goers will not do this, so you'll get to enjoy quite a few attractions before the masses get there. Make your way back toward the entrance of the park and exit if the crowds become too bothersome.

Evening Extra Magic Hours are wonderful, in my opinion, especially those which go quite late into the night. My daughter and I enjoyed such a night this past summer when we stayed in Magic Kingdom well past 1 a.m. Considering how crowded the park had been since dinnertime, the crowd level was wonderfully low.

If, however, you cannot get to a park with early morning EMH until the regular park open, I'd go elsewhere if possible. For more information about predicted (unofficial) crowd levels, check out touringplans.com. It's a great source of data when trying to set your touring itinerary.
