Hey Kirsten! Hope you are well...I am putting the final touches on my upcoming May trip and would like to get some information re. The Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom cards/game. I have heard about it, but would like some details as to what it involves.

    Hi Shannon!

My kids both absolutely love playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. We fit in 'quests' between attractions or after lunch as we journey around the park. The kids keep track of the locations of their next quests and we'll pop in to the portals to play as we pass by.

As Merlin's Apprentice Sorcerers, you'll battle Disney Villains via magic 'portals' in an attempt to save Magic Kingdom from Hades. To get started, your first stop will be a visit to the Firehouse on Main Street U.S.A. as you enter Magic Kingdom. Here you'll pick up your Spell Card Packs (one per member of your family per day - even if the grown ups aren't planning to 'play' - pick up the extra packs for the kids!) and receive a hands-on tutorial on how to play. If the lines are busy here, head on back to Liberty Square where you'll find another, lesser known location just behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. With your Mystical Map, Key and Spell Cards in hand, you'll be ready to set out on your interactive adventure around the park, completing quests.

If this sounds like something your kids will enjoy, I'd recommend that you consider picking up some basic, trading card albums prior to your visit. We bought 4-pocket albums which are small enough to easily be toted around by the kids. This is a great way to keep Spell Cards, keys and maps organized. My kids each have an album as well as an extra one for duplicate cards and trading. Look for other Apprentices willing to trade cards outside the Firehouse or at Portal locations.

Check out this great post on the Disney Parks Blog which shares some tips and secrets about the game.

    Wishing you a Magical day!
