Hey there! First visit and celebrating my son's 8th birthday at Disney World in mid-may. Can you please provide some info on weather and crowd? Any other tips or recommendations to make most of our trip? Thank you!

    Hi Niharika,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! May is a gorgeous time of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. Our first trip with our girls was in May!

We always check crowd calendars and weather history online prior to our trip. Based on my recent online search, crowds are generally moderate prior to Memorial day and the weather averages from mid 60s to upper 80s Fahrenheit. When we visited, the weather was hot but not unbearable and it poured down rain at least once a day. We had rain ponchos so we survived.

Be sure to make your advanced dining reservations and Fast Pass+ selections. Doing so will save you valuable time during your visit. Of course, you have to celebrate the birthday! If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, be sure to make a note of your son's birthday on your resort reservation and also make a note of it on all of your dining reservations. We love to get autographed cards from the characters and several restaurants gave us complimentary mini cupcakes on our last visit.

But, wait, I sense that the Force might be strong with your young one. The Rebellion needs additional recruits. If he desires to join, take him to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Get there before the park opens and go directly to sign-up for Jedi Training - Trials of the Temple. We always do a pre-park opening breakfast reservation at Hollywood & Vine. Before we check-in for breakfast, we sign-up for training. After he defeats the Dark Side, go visit his favorite Star Wars characters at Star Wars Launch Bay and then ride Star Tours - The Adventures Continue.

May the Force be with you!
