Hey Amanda, If our 3-9 year old kids want to order off the adult menu, and we are on the dining plan, can they we just pay the difference? Would they charge us one of our adult credits or perhaps 2 child credits? Or would we just be better off paying cash?

Hi Laurie! Well, you've got the opposite problem of me: my picky "adult" children always want to order food from the kiddie menu! How great that your children are adventurous eaters!

On the Disney Dining Plan, children ages 3 to 9 are generally required to order from the children's menu. You won't be able to apply the children's table-service credits in whole or in part to the cost of an adult meal. (The only exception to this rule is at a few counter-service restaurants where there is no children's menu.) You can ask your server about using adult credits toward those entrees, but you may want to pay out-of-pocket so you don't run out of your adult credits.

To make your kids happy while maximizing your Dining Plan, I recommend that you make your dining reservations at restaurants with more exotic selections on the children's menus and at buffets and fixed-price meals where the children can eat the adult selections. At 'Ohana and Hoop-Dee-Doo, for instance, family-style meals are brought to the table for adults and children to share. Buffets have a section of kid-friendly foods, but kids are welcome to eat from the entire buffet. Some restaurants, especially those in Epcot, offer more than the standard kiddie fare on their children's menus. For example, at Teppan Edo, kids can order shrimp or chicken stir-fry cooked tableside and La Hacienda de San Angel offers beef or chicken tacos. At Rose & Crown kids can choose from Bangers & Mash or Shepherds Pie while at Yak & Yeti vegetable lo mein and egg rolls are on the kids' menu. At 50s Prime Time kids can have meatloaf or grilled fish, and at Cinderella's Royal Table, beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes is one of the kids' choices.

Hope I've given you some options that your children will enjoy! Come visit me again at the Moms Panel if have more questions! I'd love to help you!
