I am helping a friend who is a DVC member plan her next trip to WDW. She cannot choose between Old Key West, Beach Club and Bay Lake Tower. What do you think would be a good match for a family of 5 adults?

    Hi Jessica,

Your friend is considering great resorts for a Disney Vacation Club trip to Walt Disney World! I have stayed at all three resorts, and I can think of reasons that each would be great for five adults, and also some possible drawbacks for each.

I love the relaxed ambiance at Disney's Old Key West Resort. As the oldest of all the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, it seems to attract guests who have been coming for a while and truly feel at home at Walt Disney World. The one-bedroom villas at Disney's Old Key West are very large. All of them sleep four people and most sleep up to five, so be sure to have your friend check that they get a unit that can sleep all of them. A drawback to Disney's Old Key West Resort might be the distance from theme parks and also distances within the resort. I never find this to be a problem as long as I have a car.

Disney's Beach Club Villas are also great. I think that the best thing that Disney's Beach Club Villas has to offer to a group of five adults is the easy walking access to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot. There are also many restaurants and entertainment options in walking distance around Crescent Lake. A drawback here is that the one-bedroom villas are a bit smaller and sleep up to four people, so your friends would likely need a two-bedroom villa, which would require more points.

I love Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. It is sleek and modern and in walking distance to Magic Kingdom Park. It is also on the monorail line for easy access to restaurants and entertainment at other resorts. The one-bedroom villas here are very spacious and can sleep up to five. The drawback here is that the points per night required for a stay tend to be a little higher.

I don't think that there's a wrong choice here - it depends on what your friends are looking for in their vacation. No matter what, I'm sure your friends will have a great time when they are welcomed home!
