HeLp.... Taking our 1st cruise in Jan to E. Carib . 3 kids ages 4,10,14. I hear so many fun things I should bring like pirate gear, formal, princess dress, etc... Overwhelmed! Is there a resource that gives a packing list and other related tips? Thanks:)

    Hi, Jenifer!

Congratulations on your first cruise to the Eastern Caribbean aboard the Disney Magic! My family and I are sailing this itinerary next month and can't wait to experience the warmth of the islands during the holiday season.

There are Packing Lists on DisneyCruise.com, but as a mom of four and a veteran of several Disney cruises, I'm probably your best bet for getting all the details down for a family preparing for a Disney cruise. There will be a PIrates IN the Caribbean deck party while you're on board...and you'll receive a themed bandana. However, my little boys like to bring a hat, eye patch and sometimes even an entire Jack Sparrow costume to get into the act. You'll even see grown ups dressed in piratical attire!

For a little princess, her favorite princess costume is entirely appropriate to pack.  I've seen petite royals dressed in their finest on formal night and look smashing! It's such a priceless picture when the little girl is dressed like her royal role model when they meet face to face.

On Disney cruises which are 7+-nights, there is a formal night and a semi-formal night.  My daughter and I usually dress in long gowns for the formal evening (which is usually the second night), and cocktail-type dresses for semi-formal night (which is typically toward the end of the cruise).  My husband and oldest son (17) bring a dark suit and tie, and the little boys (11 and 7) dress in khaki pants, sportcoats and ties.  For semi-formal night, the guys all lose the ties and sometimes the jackets, too.

Let me know if you think of other questions. I'd be happy to be a resource for you. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
