    Stanton from AL Asked

“Help me”, says this dad with a 6 year old son. I am taking my son in Jan or Feb. Need advice on meal planning, tips and tricks to a great trip, the things to book ahead of time. Basically I want my agenda filled out before I go.

    Hi Stanton!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Super Dad, get your cape ready. It's time to plan!

If you have not done so already, check the Special Offers and book a vacation package. I recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel because of the benefits of staying on property. We love the ability to make Fast Pass+ selections 60 days in advance. Doing so helps us to reserve ride times for popular rides - Slinky Dog Dash, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Avatar Flight of Passage.

If you are staying for five or six nights, I suggest the following park schedule. I consider Day 1 as your first full day. On the day we arrive, we often do a non-park day with check-in at the resort and dinner at Disney Springs (try T-REX).

    • Day 1 - Magic Kingdom: 8:00 a.m. pre-park opening breakfast reservation at Be Our Guest Restaurant, morning Fast Pass+ selections, lunch, additional rides after lunch, dinner at The Crystal Palace. Save a spot for the Happily Ever After Fireworks an hour before the show.
    • Day 2 - Epcot: quick-service breakfast, morning Fast Pass+ selections (Test Track or Soarin' Around the World in Tier 1 and then choose two more Fast Pass+ selections).
    • Day 3 - Disney's Animal Kingdom - 8:00 a.m. Tusker House Restaurant breakfast, standby line for Kilimanjaro Safaris, Fast Pass+ for Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest and DINOSAUR.
    • Day 4 - Disney's Hollywood Studios - arrive prior to park opening, sign-up for Jedi Training first, do Fast Pass+ for Slinky Dog Dash and Star Tours. Dining suggestions - Hollywood & Vine, 50's Prime Time Café.
Although I make plans using My Disney Experience, I also create a chart with dining and Fast Pass+ plans. Plan like a Jedi!

May the Force be with you,
