Hi there! Can you help me decide between staying at The Polynesian or Animal Kingdom Lodge? We have three children... ages 8, 5 and 1. I like the convenience of Polynesian monorail but also the AKL ammenities. Help. :-)

    Hi Andrew!

That is a really hard question.  Both are absolutely fabulous places to stay and both have a great theme.  Both also have their fans who love the resort.

That said, I would recommend staying in the Polynesian, especially if this is your first visit to Walt Disney World.  The Polynesian is on the Magic Kingdom monorail line as you pointed out.  That makes it very easy to get to the Magic Kingdom and to Epcot, via a monorail transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  In fact, you can walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center from the Polynesian.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge is relatively remote and getting to the theme parks from it can take a relatively long time, except when going to Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge has great dining at the hotel.  However, the Polynesian has great dining at the hotel and, via the  monorail, provides easy access to great dining in the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian as well.  That provides a lot of options.

My recommendation is to stay in the Polynesian, but to plan on visiting the Animal Kingdom Lodge one night for dinner.  Then you can decide if you would like to stay there on your next visit!

Good luck with your decision, and please write back if you have any more questions!
