Hello! We live in Georgia, but my Mother-in-law lives in Florida and would like to purchase annual passes for our 5 children (4 are under 18, one is 18) at the Florida Resident price. Is she able to do that? If so, are there any drawbacks? Thank you!

    Hi Erin!

Thanks for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  As a Floridian and a mom of three, I am happy to assist you with this question! It is so nice of grandma to gift annual passes to the kids. As a Florida Resident, she can purchase Florida Resident Annual Passes  for your minor children, since minors do not have to provide proof of Florida residency. However the grandchild that is 18, is already considered an adult. You see when a Florida Resident Annual Passes is purchased, each adult is required to present a valid Florida Drivers License or Florida ID Card or provide proof of Florida Residency, regardless of who purchases the passes. I recently purchased a Florida Resident Annual Pass for my husband and although I was able to pay for it, the pass was not active until we arrived at Epcot and provided his Florida ID at the ticket window. I wish it could be different, but at this time, the Florida Resident Annual Passes are limited strictly to Florida Residents.

The only drawback I can think of is that if there are any issues with the annual pass, (especially if it is a pass purchased on the annual pass payment plan), the Florida Resident must be present to resolve the issue with Guest Services. Hope this helps!

Quick Tip: Be sure to download the My Disney Experience App on your smart phone before your trip! Here you will be able to see wait times, book and manage your Fast Pass+ selections as well as any dining reservations you may have!

It has been a pleasure assisting you Erin! Please feel free to send me any other questions you may have!
