Hello! Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 5:30pm in Orlando. We will be using Disney transportation to the Wilderness Lodge. How long does it take once our flight arrives to get checked in to our hotel? What activities are recommended for late arrivals?

    Hi Tara,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so happy to help you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! If you are flying into Orlando International Airport, then it sounds like you will be taking Disney's Magical Express to Disney's Wilderness Lodge to start your vacation. I generally plan three hours between the time of my scheduled flight arrival and the time when we will be ready to begin our fun at our Walt Disney World Resort hotel. This allows plenty of time to travel through the airport, catch our ride on Disney's Magical Express and travel to Walt Disney World Resort so we don't have to worry or rush during our trip. Often, the ride doesn't take this much time, but I like to leave plenty time before I plan the first item on our vacation itinerary to avoid stress to account for unexpected delays.

Once you arrive at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you have many options to start your vacation! I suggest that you start your trip off with a wonderful table service meal. You could enjoy one of the restaurants at Disney's Wilderness Lodge or use boat transportation to enjoy one of the wonderful restaurants at one of the hotels on the Resort Monorail. I started our trip last year with dinner at California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort and then after dinner we viewed Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from the balconies of the restaurant. It was the perfect start to a magical trip!

    T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
