Disneyland Main Street

I heard Main Street is open to guests an hour before the rest of the park opens, is this true?

    Hi there, Amber!

It is true that the Main Entrance turnstiles of both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park usually open some amount of time before the parks officially open for the day. How long before the beginning of the operating day the turnstiles open varies from day to day. Except on particularly busy days, it is rare that either of the parks will open their entrances an entire hour before park operating hours. Of course, an exception to that is for days when one or the other park is open for Magic Morning or Extra Magic Hour early admission.

Taking advantage of the extra time before regular park opening is very enjoyable. You can window shop, observe all the amazing details, and get ready for a day of magic as you stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park or Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park. Shops may not always be open for business before park opening. But you can usually count on the Market House or Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe to be available to purchase your favorite Starbucks morning beverage.

Tony’s Tip: If your ticket includes a Magic Morning entitlement I highly recommend using that benefit. It’s a great time to enjoy shorter wait times on select attractions before the normal park opening time. Likewise, if you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, taking advantage of Extra Magic Hour is a magical way to enhance every day of your stay. If you are entering a park during early admission, you will be able to proceed to the open attractions of the park by showing your theme park ticket or your hotel room key.

One of my favorite things about entering the park before operating hours is being able to make an early selection of our first Disney FASTPASS of the day using Disney MaxPass. With MaxPass, you only need to have your tickets scanned into the parks. There’s no need to wait for the various lands to open in order to get to a FASTPASS distribution point to make a FASTPASS selection for either an attraction or select entertainment, or both!

Thanks for the great question, Amber. If you’d like to learn more about visiting the Disneyland Resort, I hope you’ll stop by the Disney Parks Moms Panel again.
