I've heard it's a long ride from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the various other Disney parks. How long is the ride and is it really worth it to stay there even though it is a long ride to the other parks? We are going at the end of June and staying there.

    Hi Kathleen,

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful. My family and I love staying there. It's amazing to look out and see giraffes and zebras from your resort. Beyond that, the theme inside the resort is astounding with so much gorgeous woodwork and African art. There are great restaurants with unique fare, and so many activities to try, from learning to play African drums to gathering around a campfire to hear African folktales. You can probably tell that I absolutely believe that it is worth it to stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge! It is truly a unique resort.

You are correct - the ride to Disney theme parks can be a bit long from Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Of course to Disney's Animal Kingdom it is a quick bus ride, maybe about 10 minutes. To Epcot and Hollywood Studios, I would allow 30 minutes. Magic Kingdom is the farthest away, I would allow closer to 45 minutes. Depending on when you get to a bus stop and when the bus arrives, it could be longer or shorter.

While this may seem like long bus rides, let me offer some thoughts. My family's philosophy is that the bus ride is part of the fun. We strike up conversations with other guests, look at Walt Disney World resort as we drive through, and plan our day. Also, someone else is driving, so we're just as happy to be on that bus for a short time or a long time. The longest distance from Animal Kingdom Lodge is Magic Kingdom. If the long bus ride is untenable for your family, I suggest that for that day you splurge and get a cab. This will be quicker. Simply ask a cast member at the front of the resort to help you call a cab. If there is not one already there, there will be soon!

I hope that this information helps you in making your decision, Kathleen. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
