    Lora from TN Asked

I have heard that Buzz, Woody and Toy Story characters will fall to the ground if you yell Andy's coming. Is this true?

Hi, Lora!  Ahhhh, you just have to love Facebook!  I'm sure many of the Moms received the volume of personal messages from friends and family who wanted to know if this was true.

The answer is Yes.  And No.

This is something that was done at Disneyland a handful of times, with the cast member that acts as escort to the characters being the one to call out the warning about Andy.  Unfortunately, as you might imagine, having guests shout it out frequently can pose quite a few problems.  To start with, there is a concern for the well being of the characters.  Woody and Buzz and the gang aren't new toys anymore, and we'd hate to see them get damaged in any way by a fall to the ground.  There are also concerns with guest safety.  It isn't always easy to see those pint sized theme park guests, and if someone shouted the Andy warning, a terrible toddler trampling could occur.  That would take the magic out of any vacation.

So, while this was something that has happened occasionally in the past, according to cast members, they do not do this anymore.  We just work some magic to keep Andy out of the parks and occupied, so no toys - or tots - are injured.
