I am heading to WDW in May 2015 with my 65 yo mother, haven't been there since 1990! I'm hesitant to make a bunch of ADR's due to my mother's mobility issues. Is it possible to dine at a table service restaurants without reservations?

Hi Becky, thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You are in for a treat if you haven't been to Walt Disney World since 1990. So many magical new things have happened to the parks and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Be sure to check out the New Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom, it is up there on my favorites!

I recently took my mother to Walt Disney World and we ran into the same issue. She also has mobility challenges, and she rented an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) to help her navigate through the parks. While this did help her, she spent a lot of time resting and relaxing while my son and I went exploring. We were separated for a lot of our vacation, but she did make all of our Table Service dining reservations. I would call her and we would meet up and go enjoy a meal, and then afterward we would go our separate ways. I know that many people might find it strange to separate during a vacation, but we both have very different ideas of what an enjoyable time is at Walt Disney World, so this is how we vacation.

I understand that our solution to the dining reservation / mobility challenge is probably not how you are wanting to do it, especially if the sole purpose of the vacation is to spend time together. However, I strongly suggest that if you want a specific Table Service Dining Experience you should make an Advanced Dining Reservation. May, June and July are very busy months with summer vacations, so if you do not make any reservations I doubt you will find many Table Service Restaurant options available. You might start off by making one Advanced Dining Reservation a day, either for breakfast or dinner, and then plan on Quick Service meals for the rest of the day so that you have some flexibility.

If you have any more questions we'd be happy to help.
