I am heading to WDW in 4 days :) How can I make my 5 yr old and my mom happy who doesn't like rides? I'm so overwhelmed with making them both have the best time in the parks. Please help with any advice. U guys have helped so much already

    Victoria,

I think you need to rethink your concerns. Walt Disney World is not just about rides, roller coasters, and splash zones. Sure, the rides get all the attention in the TV commercials and online ads, but much of the experience is about just being there and taking it all in.

Here is our strategy when traveling with someone not into rides. Alternate shows and rides. Go to Mickey's PhilharMagic, then Peter Pan. Then Enchanted Tales with Belle, followed by Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. That way you are sharing something every other time.

Next, give your Mom some tasks while you are on those rides. Ask her to seek out some options for where you should go for your counter service lunch. When it is actually time to eat, have her stake out a table while you are on yet another ride. Ask her to find stores worthy of a visit, special treats and hidden park benches where you can share that treat. Those will turn out to be some of the most special moments of all. Ask her to find 5 great hidden mickeys to surprise the family with. Give her some 'chores' to do that will have her playing a part in weaving the magic for the 5 year old.

Write me back with some ideas of what your Mom likes to do on other vacations, and I can offer some other great projects!

    Have a magical vacation!
