We are heading to Disneyland and I have a question about using the Disneyland Monorail to enter Disneyland. I know it has stations at DTD and Tomorrowland. Can you board at DTD in the mornings to enter for Extra Magic Hour? Thanks!

    Hi there Patricia,

The monorail does usually run during Extra Magic Hours, but on several occasions, I have arrived just before the early entry opening time, only to be told that the monorail was not yet running. While the monorail does begin running during Extra Magic Hour, it is usually unreliable at opening times and valuable time can be lost waiting for it to arrive, which can sometimes be 15 to 20 minutes late.

I always enjoy walking through Downtown Disney in the mornings, as the entire area will be quiet and peaceful.  The walk from the DTD Monorail station is only another 5 minutes or so, which in my opinion is worth it...plus, you'll get to enter on Main Street USA with a nice, unobstructed view of Sleeping Beauty Castle, as opposed to Tomorrowland, where the monorail drops off!

    Best Wishes,
