We are heading to Disney World Orlando for a third trip as three generations. We are looking for new and different things to do. My grandson is 11 years old. What is NEW since 2013? Would you PLEASE help with some suggestions!> Thank you!

Hi Ellen, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I'm so glad you're planning a return visit to Walt Disney World with your multi-generational family. As you're making all those plans, check out this video by my fellow panelist Anne B. for lots of great tips for traveling with extended family.

There's been a lot going on at Walt Disney World since your last visit. First on my list of must-dos, and something I think your grandson will love, is the thrill-a-minute Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It just opened in 2014 and is already one of the most popular attractions around. Also new at the Magic Kingdom is the Festival of Fantasy Parade, which steps off daily at 3:00 p.m. with all-new floats and an amazing metal creation of Maleficent as a fire-breathing dragon.

Probably the biggest change since your last visit that you need to be aware of is the introduction of MyMagic+, a new way to plan and experience your Walt Disney World vacation. Here are the main features:

    • FastPass+ - Select up to three attractions per day in advance for each member of your party, and reduce the time you wait in lines.
    • MagicBands - Your room key, Theme Park admission, FastPass+ entry and more, right on your wrist!
    • My Disney Experience - Website and mobile app that make keeping track of your plans a breeze.

I know it's a lot to take in, Ellen, so please stop by and see us again anytime if you have more questions. I hope this helps get you started on planning your magical, multi-generational vacation.

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
