We're heading to Disney in about 2 months. We're staying at the AKL and getting the dining plan. Our youngest with be just shy of 2, but she has quite an appetite. Since she doesn't get meals, what's the best way to get her fed?

Hi Janine! Before you know it, you'll be on your way to enjoying your stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Having stayed in Jambo House recently myself, I know just how wonderful of an experience you have ahead of you!

Of my two young kiddos, the youngest has always been the biggest eater! We have found that the best way to fill her tummy while the rest of the family is on the dining plan, is to make our Advance Dining Reservations at buffet and family-style Table-Service restaurants, since children 2 and under eat for free at these locations. For Quick-Service locations, we either pay for her meal off of the Kid's Menu, or we share from our hearty portions. If your youngest likes to snack like my kids do, I suggest using the family's snack credits between meals as well, so she isn't extra hungry at meal time. There are a wide variety of options when it comes to snacks at the Walt Disney World Resort, including fruit, assorted pastries and ice cream (yum!).

Since you will be staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, I recommend trying to get an Advance Dining Reservation for Boma - Flavors of Africa. This buffet is one of the most popular on all of Walt Disney World Resort property, because the food and atmosphere are both incredible! If you aren't able to get a reservation there since your vacation is only two months away, reserve a spot at another location, but keep checking to see if a reservation opens up! It's worth it!

    Enjoy your trip!
