Walt Disney World Halloween

We are headed down for our first trip to Disney in October 12-18, we have a 25 year old and 5 year old, was wondering if the dining plan is worth it or should we just pay out of pocket? If it's hot we won't be eating a lot of big meals. Thank you!

Happy almost-Fall Stefanie, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

You are visiting during one of my favorite times of the year! Walt Disney World does.fall.right! Giant pumpkins and leaves abound, and pumpkin spice is not just in the latte at Starbucks! One of the most spook-tacular celebrations is at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party where you can exp-eerie-nce Halloween with a Disney twist! Little to big can dress up and trick-or-treat with their favorite Disney pals while enjoying iconic attractions and bewitching entertainment. Several parties are happening while you visit, so grab your fiendish tickets before they spirit away!

Now on to the Disney Dining Plan! I think it all depends on what type of eaters you are. My family are grazers, so we don’t tend to sit down for many meals in the Parks. When we use the plan, we stick to the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan since it fits our eating habits. This allows us to grab small meals on the go, and we don’t feel overwhelmed by the amount of food. Our newest favorite thing to do is to use the My Disney Experience mobile app to pre-order our food while we wait in line at an attraction.

If your five-year-old is a fan of the Characters, you might want to consider the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan as this will cover many of the Character Dining Experiences. If you have a Princess fan, you can use two entitlements for a regal meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table. If you adore the classics, Chef Mickey’s only requires one table service credit! Honestly, this is probably the best advantage of the Disney Dining Plan. Having it takes the worry out of budgeting for meals. Your food is prepaid, and you only have to decide where to eat!

Once you decide on your plan, you can also use the app to keep track of your dining entitlements. Open up the “My Resort Stay” section, then click on “Check Dining Plan.” You will be able to see the status of all your credits, including the total, those redeemed, and what you have still available. This level of organization speaks to the soul of this Disney-planning momma!

Stefanie, I wish you spook-tacular adventures on your upcoming trip. Bon appetit!
