Having a problem with 18% gratuity. We r a party of 8 coming in September for 10 days on dining plan. Have mostly sit down and character meals planned. Honestly not able to afford around 1000.00 just for tips. What options de we have? Thanks ya'll r great

    Larisa,

You are wise to consider this expense in advance, while you still have time to change your plans.  The 18% gratuity will be automatically added to your bill, where you will have the option of charging it to your credit card, paying by cash, or charging it to your hotel room (provided you have placed a credit card on file).

If your group is not able to afford the gratuity portion of the meal, then it sounds like the Quick Service Dining Plan would be more suitable for you.  This allows you the flexibility to eat without advance planning, and would give you a reduced cost both in the purchase price of the dining plan and by eliminating the need to pay gratuities.

While I understand that it isn't always easy to see the numbers in black and white, the gratuity is a part of the meal expense since you will receive a 'bill' for it.  If you don't feel you can afford the gratuities, then I think you will need to cut back on the number of table service meals you have planned, or switch to a different dining plan.

As a former waitress myself, I know how hard it is to work for tips.  I appreciate the fact that you are planning ahead so that your servers wouldn't be shorted the money due them, and I know they do, too!

    Have a great trip!
