Family planning a trip

I haven’t been to Disney in 10 years and am overwhelmed by the changes that now have to happen to have a smooth, organized vacation. How, when, and where do I start the process? I am already overwhelmed. Thanks!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Darlene! It's so exciting that you're going to be returning to Walt Disney World Resort for the first time in 10 years. There are so many new and exciting things to do, but the planning process may have changed a bit since the last time you visited so let's chat about how to plan yourself a smooth and organized vacation.

I would recommend that you start by choosing which Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you want to stay at. There are so many to pick from and there is one right for every family and every budget. Check out the Resort Hotels on the monorail line, like Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, if you want to be super close to Magic Kingdom Park. Maybe Disney's BoardWalk Inn or Disney's Yacht Club Resort are better for you if you want to be within walking distance to Epcot! When you decide which Resort Hotel you'd like to stay at, you can either contact Disney Resort Hotel Reservations or use the Walt Disney World Resort website to book your vacation package, which will also include your theme park admission and a Disney Dining Plan, if you want one.

Speaking of dining, the next thing to do is have a look at the different dining locations and think about where you might want to eat on vacation because you are able to make your dining reservations 180 days in advance of your arrival date. Reservations are highly recommended for popular dining experiences like Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom Park, or for any Character Dining location. You can make your reservations quickly and easily using the My Disney Experience app. You can also modify your selections up to 24 hours before your reservation, so there's no need to worry if you want to change your mind!

Finally, there have been some changes to the FastPass+ system since you last visited, and it has now gone fully digital and can be accessed through My Disney Experience. As a guest of a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you'll be able to book up to three FastPass+ selections for each day of your vacation up to 60 days before your arrival. I recommend using this early booking opportunity to choose the newest and most popular attractions that you haven't seen yet, like Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I hope this answers your questions, Darlene, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
