I am so happy I found this site. You are all terrific. I just booked my disney vacation for early February 2012. Coming with my husband and 2 kids ages 4 and 5. Please advise me what to pack clothing wise, due to the weather I am alittle confused.

    Hi, Kerrilee!

Florida weather in the winter can definitely cause confusion! Our coldest months are mid-December through mid-February, so you are  coming at a time when you might risk some lower temperatures. Of course, there are no guarantees; weather is never a constant down here.

Historically, Orlando temperatures in February range from an average high of 74° to an average low of 51°.

According to the National Weather Service Orlando typically receives an average of 2.35 inches of precipitation during the month. That's not much at all, so I wouldn't pack a raincoat!

The mild climate can be deceiving, though; there is always a chance for cold temperatures - even frost - during the month of February in North and Central Florida.

Since you are from New York, your definition of "cold" is probably a lot more dramatic than mine, a Florida native. You'll likely not need many of the winter accouterments you're used to: no gloves, hats, scarves. I'd recommend planning on a couple of layers, which can be removed as the day heats up and put back on as night falls. And be a diligent weather-checker as your trip draws closer, of course!

But if in fact the weather does turn cold on you, it's just a great excuse to buy that adorable Mickey fleece you've been eyeing, right? :)

    Stay warm!

    See you later, celebrator!
