What happens to your fastpass if a ride temporarily closes down? Can you use it later in the day?

Hello Holly!  Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Whenever I am planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, I try to plan for every potential setback that may occur due to weather, ride closure or anything else that may through a wrench into my plans.

Thankfully, the scheduling of FastPass+ Selections is usually not an issue when it comes to throwing plans into array. Whenever a ride closure is expected to keep Guests from a planned FastPass+ Selection, those not currently in the queue will be informed by a Cast Member that the ride is expected to start up again soon (for a minor setback) or that the ride is closed for an indeterminate amount of time.

In the latter situation, Guests are granted a complimentary FastPass+ Selection for an alternate attraction to be used at any time during that same visit. It will automatically be applied to Guests via their MagicBands or Admission Cards.

You may even redeem this complimentary FastPass+ Selection for the attraction it was originally intended if it is working again later.

For those Guests already in the queue, if you leave the ride voluntarily before the ride closure is deemed significant enough to grant the complimentary FastPass+ Selection, you may be forfeiting your FastPass+ Selection so be sure to speak with a Cast Member before you leave.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
