What happens to fast pass reservations if it rains?

Hi there, Claudia! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

On my visit to Walt Disney World Resort a few months ago, we had a giant rainstorm! My Mouseketeers loved watching the storm, and the palm trees blowing in the strong wind, through the window of our resort room, and we decided we were going to brave the storm so we could go to Magic Kingdom Park and make use of our FastPass+ selections.

Here’s the good news: the Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort are used to rain, because they see a lot of it in Florida. Many of the attractions will continue to operate as normal, provided there is no safety risk or reason why the ride can’t operate. Should an attraction need to close because of rain, and you have a FastPass+ for that attraction, you’ll receive an email to the account linked to your My Disney Experience account or a notification in your My Disney Experience mobile app. In my experience, you’ll have two options: return when the ride opens and use your FastPass (even if it’s past the time window on the original FastPass+ reservation), or select a new FastPass+ from a list of eligible attractions. If you have any questions or concerns about the weather and your plans, a Cast Member will be happy to assist you.

Here’s even MORE good news: the theme parks are awesome in the rain! Many Guests head out when rain starts, so you might experience lower wait times for attractions, shows, and dining. At Magic Kingdom Park, the Move It! Shake It! Mousekedance It! Street Party was rained out, and in its place, the Rainy Day Cavalcade came down Main Street, U.S.A. It’s such a cute show, with rainy day costumes and the catchiest song - I was singing AND dancing in the rain when we spotted it! My fellow Panelist Kristen told me that the best ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris she ever had was in the rain, because the animals were so active.

Claudia, my fellow panelists have some great tips for making rainbows out of rainy days at Walt Disney World. My key piece of advice is: always travel with at least two pairs of shoes. That way, if you get caught in the rain, you can let those shoes dry and slip into a dry pair the next day; we usually bring Crocs or other easy-drying shoes for rainy days and pool trips.

I’m sending you pixie dust that your trip is filled with sunny days, but if you’re caught in the rain, I think you’ll find that it’s still a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day. ChEARs, and wishes for plenty of sunshine coming your way!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
