What has happened to Disney's Pleasure Island area? Is it just a shopping place or are there new dining restaurants? Is it something to consider when planning a vacation for my wife and I?

    Hi Bill:

Pleasure Island is transforming into Hyperion Wharf. The dance clubs are gone.  But during the transformation, there is plenty to do in this Downtown Disney area, such as shopping, dinning, a movie theatre, Disney Quest, and a balloon ride, Characters in Flight, that soars 400 feet in the air and offers breathtaking views of Disney World property and beyond. And there is a lot more to come.

A trip is worth considering depending how long your vacation is planned for. I would not skip a visit to a Disney Park to get to the Downtown Disney area, but if you have five or more days to spend at Disney World, a visit would likely be worth it. It's always a stop for my family on our Disney World vacations.

    Enjoy your vacation.
