Hi. I am going with 5, 9 and 39 (Ha) year old boys for 8 days. I know there is a playground at AK. Can you tell me the name or where is the most 'quiet' free-play areas in each of the four parks? I would like to take breaks IN the park during the day.

    Hi, Christine!

How awesome to be planning an 8-day trip to Walt Disney World with your 2 younger boys and one "older" boy! Thee are definitely some special places for unstructured free-play time in the four theme parks.

It sounds like you're already familiar with The Boneyard interactive play area in DinoLand, U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I guarantee your boys will have fun climbing, digging and exploring in The Boneyard! At Disney's Hollywood Studios, be sure to check out the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure play area which offers lots of climbing and sliding fun in a dedicated 11,000-square-foot space.

Next stop: Epcot! One of the special features of the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is the Land of Oz Garden, an interactive kids' play zone inspired by the new Disney film "Oz the Great and Powerful". This play area is really eye-catching with bright colors and interesting organic shapes - and there's plenty of spaces for climbing, sliding, crawling and swinging!

At Magic Kingdom the absolute best place to do some free-play exploring and climbing is Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland. The island is accessible by log raft and the opportunity for adventure is endless - there are forts, secret caves, tunnels and even a watch tower!

I hope I've given you some helpful suggestions for places to enjoy some unstructured down time. It's smart planning to make time for a break each day, whether in the park itself or back at your resort!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
